I totally forgot to blog about ChristianHomeschooler being on Smart Parenting last month! Thanks to Smart Parenting and Tina Rodriguez for the feature and the traffic to this blog that resulted.

The above screenshot about Homeschooling Your Big Kid (6 to 7 Year Old) is a little blurry. You might want to go to the Smart Parenting website to read the whole article. It might not be on print all right. But we all know that online is where all publications are soon to go anyway. It’s more permanent. And really, I believe more and more people now favor reading online magazines over the physical one (I do!). But then again, it is still lovely to turn the crisp and colorful pages of a physical mag from time to time.

Despite classes being suspended because of Typhoon Juaning since yesterday. My son and I agreed to have our regular classes. This perfectly works for us as it allows us to have our days off during my husband’s rest day, being Monday. Mondays are usually rest days for all of us. We go places, hang out and just have fun. Other times, we just stay home and snuggle up. Oh, the joys of homeschooling!

My son prayed and invited Jesus in his heart as his personal Lord and Savior in January 20, 2010. He was 4 years old then. If you are not familiar what this means, you might want to check this out –> Four Spiritual Laws. And because we wanted to be sure he really understands what it means to be saved and to accept Jesus in his heart, we stayed put and waited. Several times, during their regular talks my husband got convinced along the way, that our little guy indeed understands. We knew that he is ready to be baptized.

Baptism is a willing pledge made by those who recognize their sin, understand the significance of the death of Christ and commit themselves to Him. Check marks on every count for this homeschooler. Read this article »

This homeschooler has been missing quite a lot of karate hours these past weeks. We were not able to maximize last month’s tuition. We did not forsee him missing half of the classes we paid for. In the karate class he is currently enrolled in, we always pay in advance. He was only able to attend 6 times. Reason for absence: Fever. He’s had fever twice in the last four weeks. It’s weird and bothersome at the same time.

Before this, the last time this homeschooler had his flu shot was in 2009. He was practically ill free throughout that year. Yes, we skipped 2010, for some reason. We probably got really busy getting back on our feet after the Ondoy devastation.

Practice makes perfect. This is what we have been told for as long as we can remember and for good reason. It works. Take our homeschooler’s penmanship, for instance. It was not so long time ago that his handwriting was kinda of sorts. Look at how he has improved since.

This is our homeschooler’s Level 2 Progress Chart – Week 1. While this might not look to mean a lot, this is actually equivalent to 7 PACES. Each has at least 27 pages (some have 31 pages). At the rate he’s going, he just might be done with Level 2 by September. Then he’ll be off to Level 3.

Honestly, I don’t want to rush him. But since he is pretty pumped up because of his being able to reach his goal of 5 to 10 pages for each PACE per day and the reward he can exchange his Congratulations slip with.

So I said, our homeschooler is soon to take his Post Test for Level 1 soon. Turned out, there is no more test to take like such when a student has reached Level 1. All we have to do is to submit the Master Record Sheet, the pace tests, order the Level 2 paces and he’s good to go.
We’re really thrilled to be doing the Level 2 PACES. We ordered the PACES last week and we’ll get hold of them soon. The package for colored PACES costs P8,000. Plus the Academic fee of P3,000. The hubby decided that the colored PACES will better help our son to be more interested in his class. We ordered the non-colored ones for his Level 1, we only paid less than P3,000. He was okay with it. But we are hoping to assess how he’s going to respond to the difference.
FYI, the Academic Fee is paid on a yearly basis. Regardless of the number of Levels the student has finished throughout the year.

As much as I love receiving messages (either via comment section or contact form page), I really would appreciate it if people will read through my posts and even click on Christian Homeschooler’s FAQ Page. For some reason, I keep getting inquiries about how they can enroll their children in “my school” or even requesting for their transcript of records from random years. I receive these in my inbox EVERY SINGLE DAY.
