Our first couple of weeks in Grade 1
- by admin
Our family loves the well designed program of the curriculum that we are using from School of Tomorrow. We are currently on our First Year of Grade School and I love the independence it teaches our son. He religiously writes down his own goals for each day and makes every effort to finish as planned.
Jed finished 5 PACES on our first week. One for each subject. As for Word Building, he finished the subject in Preschool. He does not have a Literature subject yet. So both are left blank
On Science and long stemmed roses

We are blessed to have inherited a library of books way before my son was born. We gave a lot away. But we kept several collection for our library. A portion of which are Children’s and Science Library which our son started to love reading when he was 4 years old. Now that he has started to become a wide reader, he all the more loves things that pertains to Science. This week his focus was on plants and how they grow.
Level 1 PACEs

We really are doing this! I have a confession to make. I’m kinda sorta a little jittery even as we head on over to this milestone. We practically breezed through Preschool, sure. But Grade School is another story all together. But with the confidence that I now have with School of Tomorrow’s curriculum and with my experience as my son’s supervisor since 2009, I know I am more excited than jittery.
My five year old son and I will officially start with Level 1 this coming week. The PACEs just came in yesterday. There will be a few things that we are going to incorporate to our routine other than the pledges that we do before we start with class. Like the Goal setting that my student/child has to do before we get started.

In between the writing exercises we have been doing since last week, my son turns to his books for a break. Yes, that is the way he takes his break. And the chatterbox that he is, he would go on and on about the things he learns about. I took my handy digicam and recorded away while he was at it.
Jed the Science Kid

It was around ten years ago when I started collecting issues of “Inside the Human Body.” It was a good thing it was sitting way up the book case, so the Ondoy flooding did not touch the collection.
Post-Test, Take 1
- by admin
When our small battalion of 3 headed towards the South of Manila Monday morning, I was not exactly expecting my son, who has been an avid reader from age 4 to flunk his post test for ABC’s with Ace and Christi- the last level of the preschool program of the School of Tomorrow.
Advanced Lessons: ABC’s with Ace and Christi
- by admin
We are officially done with the ABCs with Ace and Christi curriculum. We are currently doing some advanced lessons that will help our homeschooler to be ready for Level 1. The Advanced Lessons have been developed to strengthen the student’s basic reading skills.
It is suggested that two Advanced Lessons be presented each day. It also has Individualized work found at the end of each Advanced Lesson. My son is breezing through every lesson and we are just thrilled with the progress that he is making.
Blending Sounds and Sight Words
- by admin
I can say with confidence that the things my son is currently learning through his paces are more like reinforcements to what he already knows. Like these blending sounds for instance. While the manual would remind the teacher that it is important for the student to learn how to blend this sound, Jed has already been reading these words in many of his favorite books.
On Blending Words and Reading

Here is a quick video I took today as we did some blending words using the “Qu” sound. This homeschooler has the tendency to be careless as he reads. He reads pretty fast, so most of the times he gets the words wrong are the times that he just guesses them because he is too excited to know what is going to happen next.
Colorful pages make this homeschooler interested

Just to give our dear readers a glimpse of what within the pages of my son’s paces. I got one of the pages that he went over today scanned so I can upload it with this post. It is the story of X-Eddy Ox.
